Get paid money for shopping
67Shopping
Whether you love shopping or loathe shopping it is something that we all have to do. The people who love shopping would love it even more if they knew they could get paid money for doing their shopping whilst those who hate it may learn to love it if they only knew how to be savvy shoppers.
Mystery shopping
The most obvious way of getting paid to shop is to become a mystery shopper. A mystery shopper is someone who gets paid for visiting various shops, restaurants and other places for giving feedback on the service and products they receive.
Mystery shoppers can earn around £30 a day depending on their assignment. They generally need to visit a shop on a certain day or at a certain time and to then report back on various things such as were the staff smartly dressed, were they helpful and polite, was the shop tidy and how long were the queues at the check outs. All of this information is useful to the Head Office of the shop as it allows them to compare the shops and identify which ones need to be improved.
If you are interest in making money as a mystery shopper you need to sign up to a mystery shopping site such as TNS Global or Retaileyes.
Cashback rewards
If you do not fancy becoming a mystery shopper then you can still make money from doing your own shopping and the one of the easiest ways is to use cashback reward sites such as Quidco and Topcashback.
Cashback reward sites pay you money each time you shop at the hundreds of shops listed in their sites. The shops range from ones you will be familiar with from your local high street but will also include some smaller lesser well known shops as well.
The amount of money you can make varies from Cashback site to Cashback site and also from retailer to retailer as many retailers are listed on several cashback sites. The cashback site acts as a go between between you and the shop and earns a commission for introducing you to the shop and to reward you they share this commission with you.
The cashback on offer can vary from as little as a 2% but can go as high as 20% and some retailers especially banks and insurance companies will pay you over £100 for opening an account or taking out and insurance policy with them. Now the trick to saving money is not to go for the shop that gives you the highest cashback that it is only part of it first you need to know what it is you want to buy and use a price comparison site to narrow down the cheapest shops and then to see if they are listed on a cashback site to really save yourself money.
Price comparison sites
Thanks to the wonders of the internet there is no longer any excuse for shoppers paying more than they have to for their shopping as price comparison sites such as Kelkoo who can compare the prices that lots of different shops are selling a product for and let you know the cheapest ones. As this can all be done in a matter of seconds there really is no excuse for not being a savvy shopper and shopping around for the best deal.
Amazingly you can even earn money not much only a few pence admittedly but it is money nevertheless by visiting the price comparison sites through Cashback reward sites to identify the cheapest deals. You then do not click on the cheapest shops but go back to the Cashback reward site and see if you can save money by using them as well.
Cashback credit cards
If you can get hold off a cashback credit card then these can pay up to 5% off the value of your credit card bill as cash on a regular basis which is anther way of making money whilst you spend money as it is money you were going to spend anyway so why not take advantage of the cashback on offer.
Loyalty cards
Loyalty reward cards such as a Nectar card can also be used when you shop in certain stores to reward yourself with points which can be converted into vouchers to spend. Loyalty cards encourage you to only shop in certain stores which can be great if the prices in the store are the same as the one next door but only one has a loyalty card. However in real life this is seldom the case and you need to be aware that sometimes it can actually be more expensive to shop with your loyalty card if the product is cheaper in another store. Loyalty cards can however be used to save money if the products are priced around the same price.
Savvy shoppers
In summary you should use a price comparison site to narrow down the cheapest shops, then use a cashback site to get paid cashback, you can earn further cashback and points if you use a cashback credit card and a loyalty card.

Online shopping provides a lot of opportunities for saving money while shopping. Several cash back sites, coupon sites, rewards programs are available on the net that help shoppers saving online. Such facilities are not available in the brick and mortar stores. Moreover, online retailers provide special offers to the online buyers. Being a frugal online buyer, I always use cash back websites like ShopAtHome, FatWallet, AAfter Search and Ebates, and MrRebates.
